So this past weekend I made the long trip (not really, but it seems like it) from Birmingham to Daphne to celebrate the birthdays of my brother and grandmother. This was the big 30th for Jeffrey and the super BIG 87th for Bugga. While I was only home for a short weekend, I really enjoyed the time that was spent with family. I spent Friday night with my grandmother and went to dinner on her birthday eve. I really enjoy every moment I get to share with her. At this point in her life, every birthday is big. As I leave town each time and say goodbye, I'm not sure what the future will hold. Not to be Debbie Downer, but you just never know...especially at age 87. Time with her alone is precious and each time I learn something new that I didn't know before. For example, we spent dinner talking about her life growing up poor, wishing she had raised her children in the Catholic faith, and my great grandmother didn't attend my grandparent's wedding because she was Catholic and my grandmother was Baptist. I wish I could just sit at her feet and listen to her tell stories all day. I am truly blessed to have her in my life!
